The start of the Quilt Project, held by Cindi Hawrysko, (who started the project) rt. and Lorna Moorhead, CEO left.

Cindi talks about the Quilt Project:
    Why we are doing it-
1. To show that women, that all women, who's lives are touched by MS can do quilting, in all forms and medias, brought together by a common bond and be joined from all corners of the world.

2. We can spread the word about MS, call attention to it, spread word about our efforts and get more squares in for our project, that would be totally awesome.

3. Get even more exposure for ourselves and our 'quilt project' leading us down new paths, maybe more media attention and more stories.

It's not a matter of sewing, it's a matter of bonding, doing, sharing and being a part of something that is now INTERNATIONAL. I have seen the quilt up at the Cleveland Clinic, and a few of the ones done by the NMSS, however, I don't think that any of those are International.

You don't even have to sew your square, you can paint it, stamp it with stamps from the craft store. Buy an iron on and just use your iron. Some ladies have done fabric appliqué' using both sewing or the fusible web method. Some have used the computer to design theirs then printed out on the iron on transfers that go through the printer (don't forget to flip your image before you do that). A few have done actual quilting on theirs. The creativity is truly amazing, and wonderfully inspiring.

Perhaps a few of you that meet together in person would like to do just one square, just get a fabric pen, sign your names, draw a face, jot down a message and then send it in. Have your kids get those wonderful new crayons that you can take their drawing they've done, use it as the transfer and iron it onto the muslin square, their art work will be preserved forever in time !!!

Please consider being a part of the Quilt Project, just click on the "Cindi" link to request a square, or you can get your own if you'd like, just start out with a 13" x 13" piece of muslin, any color is fine, and go to work!
